Geophysics is the study of the Earth by the rules of Physics. Geophysics is the Physics of the
solid Earth. Geophysics deals
with all aspect of the Physics of the Earth, its Atmosphere and space. Geophysics consisted of
other sciences such
as Physics, Geology and Math.
Geophysic engineering is a process of exploration
of the Earth by the method of
Geophysical methods. The exploration process usually
uses Physics calculations to be more effective in the exploration process. In outline, the Geophysical methods is divided into active and passive. Active
method is depend on artificial source, for examples are seismic, geoelectric,
electromacnetic, etc. Passive is depend on natural source. Passive
method is often called potential method because passive method has
selfpotential, for examples are gravity,
magnetic, selfpotential, etc. There
are 3 Geophysical methods based on a research:

At the surface (Near surface)
b.
In boreholes (Well logging)
c.
From air (Air born)
Overall field of
study Geophysical Engineering include
meteorology, solid earth geophysics (seismological studying earthquakes, volcanoes
/ volcanology, geodinamica
study the dynamics of the movement of
the plates on the earth, and seismic exploration used in the search for hydrocarbons),
and oceanography.

The role of Geophysic is to process inventory and
exploration of natural resources (minerals,
oil and gas, ground
water), terrestrial disaster
mitigation (earthquakes, eruptions
volcanoes, land movement, tsunami, etc.), monitoring
destruction of the environment, helping regional
development planning, and Geotechnical engineering.
In geothermal aims to find the source of heat, the fluid flow and subsurface structures, as well as their rock
subsurface reservoir and trap. In the field of mining engineering geophysics role in search for mineral resources whether in the form mineral in veins associated with volcanic activity and minerals derived from the accumulation of sediment.
In the field of civil engineering, geophysics role in search
for ground water (ground water) as well as the conditions
stability of the land is in an area.
